Gear Up For Golf Season

Golf and Chiropractic

The warm weather looks like it’s finally here! For many of us, that means the start of golf season!

Golf is a great way to get outside and get some exercise. From a cardiovascular standpoint, golf isn’t too physically demanding. Golfers either walk or take carts, neither of which really elevates the heart rate much. With that being said, golf is physically demanding in other ways. Golfers typically bend, move, and torque their bodies while they swing in ways they aren’t accustomed to on a regular basis. As a result, golf injuries tend to be an unexpected but fairly common occurrence (especially when it comes to over stretching or over stressing our less commonly used soft tissues and joints.

The best way to combat golf injuries is to hopefully prevent them from ever occurring in the first place. The best way to do that is to ensure your body is loose and prepared for the demands of a round of golf.

For details on some great, simple stretches that can be performed at the course before you tee off simply click here and visit the Ontario Chiropractic Association’s website. These are designed to gently stretch and activate specific muscle groups to prepare your body for a successful round of golf.
